While remote jobs will be visible on traditional spaces and places it is critical to your career development that you have access to jobs board that are dedicated to remote work.

Remote employers do often NOT use traditional jobs boards and will instead rely on their own career pages, networks and talent teams to recruit new team members. Jobs boards that are dedicated to remote help bridge this gap for us by either consolidating these jobs or working directly with remote employers.

Remote Work Skills & Tools

Finding a remote job is just the beginning of the journey. So, this month we are going to focus on the skill of delivering a good remote job interview!

A good article from Remote.com dives into x7 steps that you can take to make the most of the opportunity that you have created for yourself (by securing a remote job interview).

While there are certainly some similarities with traditional interviews the tips are focused on what to do for a remote job interview 👇

1) Practice using the tech the interviewer uses
2) Present yourself well through your attire and background
3) Do your research on the company and its culture
4) Practice answering interview questions
5) Build a rapport with your interviewer
6) Prepare questions and take notes as you go
7) What to do after the interview

The Impact of Remote

This April, as we mark Earth Day, we’re spotlighting one of the less talked-about benefits of remote work - its role in building a more sustainable future.

The daily commute is one of the larger contributors to transport emissions in Ireland. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has reported that transport accounted for almost 20% of Ireland’s greenhouse gas emissions in recent years - with with a high reliance on private car travel.

Remote and hybrid work can help change that.

A study by Cornell University and Microsoft, published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, found that:

- Full-Time Remote Work: Employees working remotely five days a week can reduce their work-related carbon footprint by up to 54%.

- Hybrid Work Models: Working from home two to four days per week can lead to emissions reductions between 11% and 29%.

But it’s not just about emissions:

  • Local impact: Less commuting means less congestion and wear on roads, especially in urban centres.

  • Rural revitalisation: Remote work allows people to live and work outside major cities, breathing new life into rural towns and reducing the strain on urban infrastructure.

  • Everyday choices: Working from home often empowers individuals to make more sustainable choices - like cooking at home, using less packaging, and reducing fast fashion consumption.

At Grow Remote, we believe that distributed work can be a powerful lever for both climate action and community renewal. It’s not just about working from anywhere - it’s about creating a world that works better for everyone.

The State of Remote IE

At the start of April 2025 the number of remote job in Ireland as per listings on LinkedIn looked like this 👇

18% of jobs listed are remote! This is one of the highest %’s we have seen over the last couple of years.

Reminder - companies that hire remotely do not usually advertise in traditional space or places and that’s why jobs boards that are dedicated to remote or places like LinkedIn who pick up remote jobs directly from employers remote job posts are a good indicator for the state of remote jobs available in Ireland.
